Professor of Epidemiology

University of Copenhagen

Professor of Epidemiology

Section of Epidemiology, Department of Public Health
Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences
University of Copenhagen

Epidemiology is a fundamental science for understanding the health status of individuals and populations. To strengthen the theoretical developments and empirical opportunities within the field, University of Copenhagen seeks to appoint a Professor of Epidemiology to the Section of Epidemiology, Department of Public Health to commence on 1 December 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter.

Denmark has comprehensive nationwide health databases, which opens great opportunities to combine register-based data with research-based cohorts and biobank samples. This creates a unique platform to handle and analyze unprecedented large amounts of ‘big data’ to improve our understanding of human life histories and their impact on maintenance of health and the occurrence and prognosis of disease. The professorship should contribute to develop and employ innovative epidemiological methods for advancing the field of causal inference, complexity and life course trajectories in human health by taking advantages of these settings and options.

Please note that we also seek to appoint a Tenure Track Assistant Professor of Epidemiology to the same section. You can find the job advertisement at
