Your assignment

  • Writing research projects and requesting allowances.

  • Training and directing academic staff and supervising doctoral students.

  • Support clinical studies conducted within the microbiology lab.

  • Ensure the timely delivery of project reports.

  • Active participation in project meetings with academic and industrial partners.

  • You contribute to research and education in the field of medical microbiology.


Your profile

  • You hold a doctorate with a thesis in microbiology, preferably in a domain relevant to the LMM.

  • You have strong skills in microbiological basic techniques such as "whole genome sequencing" (WGS).

  • You have experience in the field of antimicrobial resistance.

  • You have excellent management and communication skills.

  • An excellent knowledge of English is a must.

  • You can work independently and take responsibility.

  • You are a team player and you know how to lead and coach academic staff.

  • In your education you place the right accents that fit within the vision on education at the University of Antwerp.

  • Your research qualities are consistent with the policies of the university .


We offer

  • a part-time contract as a postdoctoral researcher for a period of three years, with a possibility of renewal;

  • date of commencement of employment is 1 February 2019 ;

  • a full-time gross monthly salary of a postdoctoral researcher varies from € 4,053.77 to € 6,319.49;

  • a dynamic and stimulating work environment;

  • 35 vacation days + 2 weeks collective closure (one week in August and one week between Christmas and New Year);

  • a bicycle allowance;

  • a full refund for commuting with public transport.
