The Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (LMU) is one of the most renowned and largest universities in Germany.



One of the tasks of the professorship is to represent statistics in the field of social surveys and labor market research in teaching and research.


An intensive research effort and the establishment of research cooperations are expected. In teaching, participation in training in the Bachelor's and Master's programs is part of the professorship. At the IAB, the main task of the job holder is the quality assurance of the surveys conducted there with regard to the conception and implementation of the surveys.


With this call, the LMU and the IAB are addressing particularly highly qualified junior researchers who, after completing a university degree and an above-average doctoral degree or comparable qualification through their achievements in research and teaching, have an extraordinary potential for a further career in science have demonstrated. National and international networking in research, experience in managing research projects, as well as the acquisition of third-party funding, communication and leadership skills are essential to the position.


The appointment is made within the framework of a cooperation agreement between the LMU and the IAB: The person appointed is hired as a professor in a private-law employment relationship at the LMU. At the same time, he or she will be granted leave of absence and the service group Data Collection and Data Integration (working title) at the Competence Center Empirical Methods (KEM) at the IAB. He or she also represents KEM's Deputy Head of Research. The recruitment at the IAB takes place in the employment relationship in the TE I (TV-BA) with allowance.


The hiring is initially for a period of six years. If the legal prerequisites are met, especially if the professional, pedagogical and personal qualifications are positively evaluated, the employment relationship can be converted into an unlimited employment after three years at the earliest. The place of work is Nuremberg.
