Behavioral Insights for Healthy Aging

The Department of Economics, University of Copenhagen invites applications for one Post Doc position. The position will have a duration of two or three years. The start date for the position is July 1st 2019, or another agreed upon date with the candidate.

The Post Doc position is offered in connection with the project “Behavioral Insights for Healthy Aging”, financed by a grant from Nordea Fonden. The project involves a group of researchers from the Department of Economics and from the Centre for Healthy Aging. The group will design, conduct and evaluate a series of interventions based on behavioural insights to steer people towards a higher well-being. The group will also investigate potential unintended side effects, heterogeneous effects on different target groups and how these interventions can be implemented effectively, enhancing individual health, increasing productivity and reducing the health costs for society. For this project, the group will collaborate with governments, institutions and non-profits to study decision making in natural environments.

The project will entail experiments both in the lab and in the field, survey data collection on individual preferences and empirical analyses using Danish register data. The postdoctoral researcher will have access to unique datasets and the support of research assistants. We also encourage complementary independent research. 

The ideal candidate holds a PhD in Economics with a strong background in behavioural economics. She/ he has experience in independently conducting large-scale field experiments in collaboration with public or private organizations and strong empirical skills. We are also interested in candidates with a strong theoretical background. Woman and international candidates are particularly encouraged to apply. 



Employment as Post Doc at the Department of Economics, University of Copenhagen, requires a PhD degree in Economics.  


Salary and conditions of employment  

Salary and conditions of employment will be in accordance with the agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC). The annual salary for postdoctoral researchers is within the range DKK 405.203,16 – 426.625,2 (about EUR 54,000 – 57,000). In addition to the salary paid directly to you, the University will also pay a monthly contribution to your pension fund corresponding to 17.1 % of your salary. A postdoctoral position is a fixed-term academic position, whereas two years are fully financed by the grant and entirely weighted towards research. There is a possibility of extending the contract of one year subject to the success of the project.

Application procedure  

After the expiry of the deadline for applications, the authorized recruitment manager selects applicants for assessment on the advice of the Appointments Committee. All applicants are then immediately notified whether their application has been passed for assessment by an expert assessment committee. Selected applicants are notified of the composition of the committee and each applicant has the opportunity to comment on the part of the assessment that relates to the applicant.
