on 01 April 2020


PROFESSORSHIP (W3) FOR CIVIL LAW, COMMERCIAL
LAW AND COMPANY LAW

Responsibilities:


The successful applicant is expected to teach and conduct research in Civil Law and Commercial
Law, including Company Law, each in relation to international law.
The successful candidate is further expected to actively participate in the mandatory civil law
program as well as in the key research areas of commercial and company law. Additionally, the
successful candidate will have an opportunity to participate in the Albrecht Mendelssohn Bartholdy Graduate School of Law's structured doctoral program. Furthermore, the successful candidate is expected to contribute to one or a number of the profile areas of the Universität Hamburg.

Law, including Maritime Trade Law, each in relation to international law.
The successful candidate is further expected to actively participate in the mandatory civil law
program as well as in the key research areas of maritime commercial law. Additionally, the successful candidate will have an opportunity to participate in the Albrecht Mendelssohn Bartholdy
Graduate School of Law's structured doctoral program. Furthermore, the successful candidate is
expected to contribute to one or a number of the profile areas of the Universität Hamburg.

BOTH PROFESSORSHIPS ARE SUBJECT TO THE FOLLOWING:


Section 12 subsection 7 sentence 2 of the Hamburg higher education act (Hamburgisches
Hochschulgesetz, HmbHG) applies.


Requirements:


Academic qualifications and additional requirements as specified in Section 15 HmbHG.


Additional criteria:


Applicants are expected to have international research experience as well as a successful track
record in acquiring external funding and carrying out externally funded projects. The knowledge
in Law and Economics is advantageous. The University places particular emphasis on the quality
of teaching and therefore requests that applicants provide details of their teaching experience
and objectives.


The post holder is expected to acquire the language skills necessary to teach in German (Level C1
of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) within two years of commencing employment providing he or she does not have the requisite skills when starting.


Following hearings, selected candidates will be assessed to ascertain skills in the areas of management and human resources.
