PROFESSORSHIP (W2/W3) FOR EDUCATION WITH A FOCUS ON VOCATIONAL EDUCATION, IN PARTICULAR TECHNICAL VOCATIONS


commencing as soon as possible, ref. no. 2293


Responsibilities:


The successful candidate is expected to teach and conduct research in the field of vocational
education, particularly in technical vocations. At Universität Hamburg, these include metal technology, electrical / information technology, media technology, chemical technology as well as
construction and wood technology.


Teaching duties include participating in training vocational education teachers studying in bachelor and master’s degree programs.


Participation in cooperative research activities at faculty level is also expected.


Section 12 subsection 7 sentence 2 of the Hamburg higher education act (Hamburgisches
Hochschulgesetz, HmbHG) applies.


Requirements:
Academic qualifications and additional requirements as specified in Section 15 HmbHG. Applicants are expected to have a master’s and doctoral degree in one of the above vocational specializations, or equivalent.


Additional criteria:
Applicants are expected to have international research experience as well as a successful track
record in acquiring external funding and carrying out externally funded projects. The University
places particular emphasis on the quality of teaching and therefore requests that applicants provide details of their teaching experience and objectives.

Publications (especially empirically oriented) in peer-reviewed journals are expected.
The post holder is expected to acquire the language skills necessary to teach in German (Level C1
of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) within two years of commencing employment providing he or she does not have the requisite skills when starting.


Following hearings, selected candidates will be assessed to ascertain skills in the areas of management and human resources.


In accordance with Section 14 subsection 3 sentence 3 HmbHG, Universität Hamburg seeks to increase the proportion of women in teaching and research and encourages female academics to

The position is a professorship with teacher training duties requiring educational theory and
