Applications are invited for appointment as Lecturer in the Master of Arts in Chinese Historical Studies (MACHS) programme in the School of Chinese (Ref.: 493839), to commence on September 1, 2019 or as soon as possible thereafter, on a two-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal.

 

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in Chinese History and Culture or related areas and 5 years’ post-qualification teaching experience at a tertiary level. They should have a proven track record of excellence in teaching and research with demonstrated evidence of administrative experience in higher education settings, preferably in M.A. programmes. Fluency in English, Putonghua and Cantonese is required. The ability to contribute significant breadth and depth to the MACHS curriculum would be a definite advantage. The selected candidate is expected to teach M.A. as well as B.A. courses, to coordinate the M.A. courses and to supervise dissertations. The appointee will hold the functional title of Programme Coordinator. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totaling up to 15% of basic salary.
