Applications are invited for the positions; Assistant, Associate and Chair specialising in all areas of Finance, Risk and Banking including:

  • Asset pricing, Theory and Empirical
  • Banking/Financial intermediation Theory and empirical applications
  • Fin Tech/Applications of Blockchains, Machine Learning and Big Data in modern Banking Theory and applications
  • Corporate Finance and Governance
  • Financial Economics/Econometrics
  • International Finance
  • Risk Management and Insurance Markets

In particular, we are looking to recruit exceptional candidates with strong quantitative background in areas mentioned above. All positions will be based in the Finance, Risk and Banking Division at Nottingham University Business School. The person/s appointed will be expected to engage in high quality research and teaching in the relevant areas of Finance, Risk and Banking , contributing to programmes offered by the School at Undergraduate, Postgraduate, MBA and PhD levels. They will also be required to make an appropriate contribution to administration.

Candidates should have a PhD (or equivalent) in a relevant area (or be close to completion for the Assistant Professor post) together with significant teaching experience in relevant subjects at HE level. They should have excellent communication and presentation skills and the ability to teach at Undergraduate, Postgraduate, MBA and PhD levels in relevant subject areas and supervise Undergraduate, Postgraduate, MBA and PhD students. A sustained track record and a pipeline of high quality publications in top rated international, peer reviewed journals ( with 4*/4 ranking) in all major areas of Finance, Risk management and Banking are also requirements. Though not exhaustive, ABS ranking of 4*/4 in Finance and within Financial Economics journals could serve as a guide to potential applicants. For the junior level post, candidates must have a pool of current publications which must show ability to publish in 4*/4 rated journals. For more senior posts, experience of research leadership, collaborations, grant-funding activity and effective mentoring of others are desirable qualities. Candidates should have the ability to develop their own research area, the flexibility to collaborate with colleagues and the ability to work well in a team.
