Job Overview

The Department of Nursing at Drexel University invites applications for a Non-Tenure Track Director/Assistant Clinical Professor for the Fall Quarter for the online graduate nursing program. We are especially interested in candidates who have experience in Quality, Safety, and Risk Management.

The track director is responsible for maintaining the integrity and quality of the MSN/MS in Quality, Safety and Risk Management Program within the MSN Advanced Role Department. This online program prepares graduate students for a leadership role in a fast changing, increasingly demanding healthcare environment. This program offers either an MSN (for nurses) or MS (for other health professionals). Designed for full or part-time attendance by working health professionals, this program teaches graduates to lead teams in efforts to improve quality and safety in healthcare settings. Students learn to identify and manage risks, solve problems, make decisions, resolve conflict, address legal/ethical issues and operationalize the mission and goals of the health care delivery organization utilizing information systems and evidence-based decision-making strategies. 

The ideal candidate will have previous teaching and/or online teaching experience; excellent verbal and written communication skills, computer and technology competency; and evidence of sustained professional development/scholarship. 

Proficiency with teaching learning technology is a plus. 

Since this is an online program, the successful candidate does not need to live in PA however occasional travel to Philadelphia will be required. If hired, a PA nursing license is required.


The ideal candidate will have experience in quality, safety and risk management in healthcare and have relevant professional certification (e.g. Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM), Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ), Health Care Quality & Management (HCQM) Certification) or agree to obtain certification as condition of employment. 

A master's degree in nursing is required although a doctorate degree is preferred. Teaching experience and online teaching experience a plus.

Essential Functions

1. Oversight of specialty track to ensure integrity and quality of program. 
2. Monitors and counsels students on progression through the program and overall professional/career goals. 
3. Reviews student GPAs each quarter as forwarded from the Academic Advisor. 
4. Mentors Adjunct Faculty and Course Faculty teaching within the track. 
5. Manages/Oversees the Blackboard course shells for all courses within the track. 
6. Approves student's practicum site and/or preceptor. 
7. Reviews courses in track on an annual basis and makes curricular recommendations to the Department Chair. 
8. Collaborates with the Department Chair regarding processes and procedures related to the clinical practicum, course progression, etc. 
9. Conducts quarterly reviews of core curriculum competencies specific to track. 
10. Surveillance of university-related websites. 
11. Participates in regular meetings with the Graduate Contract Coordinator. 
12. Participates in the MSN Faculty and Track Coordinator meetings. 
13. Meets regularly with the Department Chair. 
14. Performs all other duties as assigned by the Department Chair.
