The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE), at the University of California, San Diego, invites applications for an Assistant Professor (tenure-track) position in Aerospace Engineering.
Of particular interest is research focused on aerospace vehicles and mission design including, but not limited to, advanced flight dynamics, hypersonic flight and propulsion, fluid-structure interactions, net-zero carbon emission aviation, and UAVs, as well as research motivated by space-based systems including, but not limited to, low-cost launch systems technologies, emerging spacecraft power, propulsion, thermal management, guidance/navigation & control, novel sensor systems, micro and nanosatellites; crewed and robotic systems, space-based assembly and manufacturing, and in-situ resource recovery and utilization.
The required job duties include developing an excellent research program, teaching university students at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and service activities. As such, successful faculty candidates will demonstrate potential for teaching excellence and the highest standards of scholarship and professional activity in their research area. In addition, candidates must demonstrate past involvement in and/or potential for commitment to increasing diversity and inclusion and have a plan and desire to participate in the School's diversity initiatives.

Salary: Level of appointment will be commensurate with qualifications; salary based on UC pay scales and market conditions.
