The Department of Applied Psychology at the Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology (GSAPP) at Rutgers University, New Brunswick is seeking an outstanding candidate for a tenure track assistant professor position specializing in research in the field of applied behavior analysis (ABA). The successful candidate should have a strong record of scholarly research in ABA, have demonstrated the potential to generate external funding, and show excellent potential to mentor graduate students.

Although not required, preference will be given to candidates who have clinical and research experience with individuals with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and related disorders. The new faculty may have the opportunity to collaborate with faculty and staff at the Douglass Developmental Disabilities Center (DDDC) and/or Rutgers Center for Adult Autism Services (RCAAS). Opportunities exist for collaboration with faculty members in GSAPP and the broader Rutgers University community.

Candidates will teach at the graduate level, contribute to student training at BA/MA and doctoral levels, and will be expected to develop and maintain an active, extramurally funded research program. The Department of Applied Psychology is located on the Busch Campus of Rutgers University. It houses multiple graduate programs in ABA (Master of Applied Behavior Analysis, Master of Psychology – ABA Track, Certificate in ABA) and is currently growing. We are developing new programs and collaborations within and outside of the Rutgers community.

Minimum Education and Experience

  • Have a doctorate in ABA, psychology, or related field
  • A strong record of scholarship
  • An active program of research and publications in the field of ABA
  • Teaching at a graduate level as well as professional experience
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Have a BCBA or BCBA-D certification

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Behavior analyst with a successful history of research, teaching, and mentoring of students
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to be flexible and working in an environment of expansion and change
  • Candidates will be expected to develop and maintain an active, extramurally funded research program.
