Description:

The Department of Mathematical and Computational Sciences at the University of Toronto Mississauga (UTM) invites applications for a two-year Contractually Limited Term Appointment (CLTA) at the rank of Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream, in the field of Computer Science, beginning July 1, 2019, or shortly thereafter, and ending on June 30, 2021.

We seek candidates who have a record of excellent teaching, experience with and demonstrated commitment to excellent pedagogical practices, and strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, as evidenced by the teaching dossier submitted as part of the application including a strong statement of teaching philosophy, sample course materials, teaching evaluations, as well as strong letters of reference from referees of high standing.

Candidates must have at least a Masters degree in Computer Science or related discipline, by the time of the appointment. A PhD is preferred. We seek candidates whose teaching interests complement and enhance our existing departmental strengths (see https://www.utm.utoronto.ca/math-cs-stats/home). Candidates must have a demonstrated record of teaching excellence that includes creating an enjoyable and educational experience for students and teaching a variety of undergraduate Computer Science courses, particularly systems courses or technical writing courses. Candidates must have teaching expertise in a degree granting program at the undergraduate program level, including lecture preparation and delivery, curriculum development, and development of online material/lectures. Teaching experience in theory courses will be an asset. Preference will be given to candidates who have developed curriculum for new and existing courses; have experience engaging with students both in and out of a course setting (for example, running seminars, contests, workshops, and engaging with student-run initiatives); have experience contributing to departmental administration (for example, course coordination and managing TAs); and have experience supervising undergraduate or graduate research projects.


Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
