Position Summary

The Department of New Media, Art, & Technology (NMAT) invites applications for a full time, tenure-track, 10-month, Assistant Professor of Fine Art and New Media position beginning August 1, 2019. The NMAT program was built for those who choose not to work within the constraints of a silo but prefer to work and teach across multiple art forms, meshing different techniques and skillsets in their practice and in the classroom. From the unique NMAT core foundations modules through the senior thesis capstone experience, resident faculty work closely with every student, applying their unique creative approach and pedagogy. The candidate for this position will be a two-dimensional artist with expertise in both traditional and digital media. The ideal candidate must be able to teach undergraduate courses in two or more areas such as (digital/analog) painting, drawing, illustration, animation, photography, video, etc. Prior teaching experience is required. Course load will be 72% FTE (3 courses) per semester.


Basic Qualifications

Candidates should have an earned MFA or doctorate in an appropriate field. ABDcandidates are also encouraged to apply. Candidates are expected to be effective teachers and active researchers. Appropriate university/professional/community service is also required including committee work, assessment of the major, and engaging in campus initiatives to increase retention and enrollment. Evidence of effective teaching, disseminated research or creative work, and a record of service will be required for tenure and promotion.
