Position Description

The Department of Pediatrics, at the University of Washington School of Medicine Department of Pediatrics, Division of Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine, in partnership with Seattle Children’s Hospital, is seeking an Assistant Professor without tenure, to join our vibrant and growing division.

This is a full-time or part-time appointment in the School of Medicine at the rank of Assistant Professor (without tenure by reason of funding). Compensation is commensurate with experience on the clinician scholar track. The position will be a multi-year appointment over a 12-month service period, July 1-June 30. Anticipated start date is October 1, 2021.

Duties will include clinical care, research, and teaching, as well as active participation in Divisional and Departmental activities. There is opportunity and support for academic growth and career development, leadership and educational endeavors at all levels. The Division focuses on equity, quality of care, continuous process improvement, safety, clinical standardization, education, research and academic success.

The candidate will conduct clinical research in an area of pulmonary medicine dealing with chronic conditions with health equity in mind.  The research focus will align with the Division of Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine at Seattle Children’s Hospital, and the candidate will interact with medical students, residents, and pulmonary fellows in training.

All University of Washington faculty members engage in teaching, research, and clinical service.

Qualifications

Applicants must have an MD or DO (or foreign equivalent). Must be board certified/eligible in Pediatric Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine. The successful candidate should have training in public health and completed an accredited pediatric pulmonary fellowship. 

In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S,) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services
