Position Description

The University of Washington (UW) is recruiting for a full-time Assistant Professor (without tenure due to funding), in the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine, Department of Medicine. This is a full time (100% FTE) position. The successful candidate will be expected to provide leadership in graduate medical education including curriculum development and implementation. Patient care responsibilities will be in ambulatory clinics and inpatient pulmonary consultation and ICU services at the University of Washington and Harborview Medical Center campuses.  Candidates will be expected to actively participate in mentoring clinical trainees and mentoring fellows on the clinician teacher training pathway.

This position will have an annual service period of 12 months (July 1 – June 30). Anticipated start date would be July 2021.

University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research, and service.

Qualifications

Requirements include an MD or DO degree (or foreign equivalent) and Board Eligibility or Certification (or foreign equivalent) in both Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine. Positive factors for consideration include, but are not limited to: a scholarly focus in graduate medical education, leadership and curriculum development and implementation, and clinical interest in the respiratory complications of neuromuscular disease. In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduate of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
