The School of Social Work at The University of Texas at Austin invites application from qualified candidates for a faculty position at the rank of assistant professor. 

This search is for an individual with expertise in addictions, recovery, and mental health.  

Candidates must demonstrate a clear commitment to research in addictions and recovery with special attention to research in addictions healthcare, to improve clinical outcomes for vulnerable and at-risk populations; and interventions at the individual and systems levels to reduce addiction and overdoses.  Expertise in the development of digital health innovations that improve clinical workflow and care coordination among interdisciplinary treatment teams is highly valued in this search. Of particular relevance is for the applicant to understand the need to design programs of addictions research within the rapid changing landscape of implementation science. Similarly, the position calls for knowledge and skills in the area of community-based participatory research, translational science, and technology transfer. 

Applicants must show promise for high quality scholarship and research, external funding, publications, and teaching that meet the School’s needs and priorities.

Preferred qualifications include a doctorate in social work or a related field.  Practice experience is preferred. Successful candidates are expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses, develop a funded research program, collaborate with other faculty, and be involved in service to the university, community, and the profession.
