Salary
£40927 to £50296 per annum (pro-rata if applicable) depending on skills and experience. Salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance.

The School of Sociology and Social Policy is a vibrant, diverse, and exciting centre for social science teaching and research. We are a multidisciplinary School covering criminology, sociology, public policy and administration, social policy, and social work. 

As the School enters a period of growth, we are looking for an enthusiastic scholar to join our team in sociology. The team currently has expertise in a wide range of areas including Cultural Sociology, Health and Illness, STS, Migration Studies, Tourism, Religion and Spirituality and Chinese Studies. 

The successful applicant will be expected to make a significant contribution to research and teaching in the School, taking responsibility for the quality of the education we provide, and for identifying new opportunities and sources of funding for research, as well as contributing to high-quality submissions to future assessments of research excellence. They will also play an active role in school operations, for example by taking on a significant administrative role in relation to research and/or teaching. Teaching on our very popular undergraduate programmes will be an immediate priority. 

We welcome applicants working in sociology able to develop teaching and/or research with specific reference to popular culture, film and social media, or race and ethnicity studies. 

This role is permanent role available from 1st August 2022. Hours of work are full-time (36.25 hours); however, applications are also welcome from candidates wishing to work part-time (minimum 29 hours per week). Please specify in your application if you wish to work part time and the number of preferred hours.
