Posting Summary
The School of Public Health is seeking applications for a full-time, 12-month non-tenure track Assistant Professor appointment in the Department of Urban-Global Public Health. The successful candidate will primarily be devoted to our teaching mission, with a focus on our core courses and nutrition-focused courses. The Department currently has four concentrations: urban public health, global public health, LGBTQ health, and public health nutrition. In addition to teaching, the position will include academic and practicum advising, as well as mentoring for our MPH and DrPH students. This is a renewable, 1-year, appointment.
The incumbent faculty member shall:
· Teach a minimum of 6 courses per year (including summer courses as well as various modes, e.g., in-person, remote, asynchronous)
· Use pedagogically sound teaching methods that include active and experiential learning to implement in person and online courses
· Ensure courses reflect diversity, equity and inclusion in both content and implementation.
· Develop online, asynchronous versions of existing courses
· Develop select new courses to fill gaps in the existing course offerings
· Provide academic and practicum advising and mentorship to Master of Public Health and Doctor of Public Health degree students
· Collaborate with School of Public Health and School of Health Professions colleagues to ensure that courses continue to meet the needs of both programs (note: the School of Health Professions collaborates) in the public health nutrition concentration)
· Be familiar with, and teach to the educational requirements and expectations associated with the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH) accreditation criteria; develop course content that meets and assesses these requirements and participate in all School assessments of courses required for CEPH accreditation
· Aid in the maintenance and management of course scheduling for students
· Have the opportunity to collaborate on grant-writing and peer-reviewed publications;
· Participate in departmental and School service
· Other required activities will depend on the candidate’s track (e.g. teaching, professional practice, clinical)

COVID-19 Immunization Requirement

Rutgers University requires all new employees to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated and have received a booster (where eligible) against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the employee a medical or religious exemption. Employees who are not eligible for a booster at the time of an offer of employment provide proof they have received a booster upon eligibility and upload proof of same. Based on current guidance, individuals are considered fully vaccinated against COVID-19 two weeks after receiving the final dose of a vaccine approved or authorized for emergency use in the United States or a vaccine that has been listed for emergency use by the World Health Organization. Eligibility for a booster against COVID-19 varies and is explained on the University’s web site located at Failure to provide proof of primary vaccination and booster will result in rescission of a candidate’s offer of employment or disciplinary action up to and including termination.

Minimum Education and Experience
Successful applicants will have:
· A doctoral degree (e.g., PhD, DrPH) (nutritional epidemiology or food systems preferred);
· Demonstrated excellence in teaching and mentoring with at least three years’ professional
experience in a classroom setting;
· Experience teaching relevant undergraduate or graduate courses;
Experience with online teaching preferred;
Evidence of a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
