The Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation (IHPME) in the Dalla Lana School of Public Health (DLSPH) at the University of Toronto invites applications for a full-time, tenure stream Assistant Professor position in Organizational Behaviour, Implementation Science, and Advanced Technologies.
In addition to the University appointment, the successful candidate will hold a concurrent Embedded Scientist position at the Science of Care Institute at Sinai Health for a renewable six-year term, subject to favorable review.
This position focuses on advancing research, teaching, and system transformation at the intersection of organizational behaviour, implementation science, and advanced health technologies.
The Institute seeks candidates whose scholarship addresses the design, implementation, evaluation, scaling, and sustainability of advanced technologies in health and health care, including but not limited to:
Artificial intelligence and automation
Data-driven decision-support systems
Ethical, equitable, and risk-conscious technology integration
Key research challenges include:
Integrating advanced technologies into organizational workflows and practices
Monitoring and evaluating implementation and impact
Sustaining and scaling innovations within complex health systems
Strong alignment with systems thinking, organizational change, leadership, governance, and workforce transformation is expected.
Develop and sustain an independent, innovative, and externally funded research program
Publish in leading peer-reviewed journals and present at major conferences
Collaborate across disciplines and sectors, including health systems and policy environments
Integrate knowledge users, policy makers, and the public into research activities
Contribute to the missions of IHPME, DLSPH, and the Science of Care Institute
Teach graduate-level courses in:
Micro- and meso-organizational behaviour
Qualitative and/or mixed methods
Contribute to professional and research-stream programs
Potentially teach undergraduate courses
Provide mentorship to students and trainees
Contribute to curricular development and academic leadership within IHPME
Engage in collegial and collaborative service
Support interdisciplinary research initiatives
Contribute to departmental, divisional, and institutional governance
Participate in advancing organizational and management science education
The successful candidate will:
Work closely with the Chief Scientific Officer and Sinai Health leadership
Accelerate the research life cycle at the intersection of organizational behaviour, implementation science, and advanced technologies
Build research and innovation capacity within Sinai Health
Mentor trainees, clinicians, and staff
Strengthen institutional research partnerships
PhD in one of the following or related fields:
Organization theory
Behavioural science
Implementation science
Health administration
Public health
Health systems research
Management sciences
Demonstrated excellence or emerging excellence in:
Research
Teaching
Interdisciplinary collaboration
Evidence of ability to attract competitive external research funding
Strong publication record or forthcoming publications meeting international standards
Commitment to equity, collaboration, and integrated knowledge translation
Expected salary range: CAD $130,000 – $150,000 per annum
(Salary commensurate with experience; higher negotiation possible for exceptionally qualified candidates.)
