The Division of Mathematics and Natural Sciences and the Biology program at Penn State Altoona invites applications for a tenure-track position in Biology with a specialty in Ecology beginning in Fall 2020. Teaching responsibilities will include lower-level courses in introductory biology (BIOL 110, BIOL 220W) and upper level courses in ecology reflecting the candidate’s expertise (e.g. BIOL 463, WFS 430). Preference will be given to individuals who can teach general ecology and contribute to Penn State Altoona’s Environmental Studies degree. The successful candidate is expected to develop an active research program in their area of expertise, to regularly publish in high quality refereed journals, and to participate in professional organizations. Student advising and mentoring is required. Involvement in program, campus, University, and community service activities is also expected. The position requires a Ph.D. in Biology or a related field and is a tenure-track appointment at the level of Assistant Professor or a rank commensurate with qualifications. Applicants should present a record of evidence of potential effectiveness in teaching, research, and service; Postdoc experience is desirable. Candidates should have a strong commitment to undergraduate education, research, student recruitment and retention, and curricular development and assessment.
