The Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy, Faculty of Arts & Science at the University of Toronto, invites applications for a two-year full-time Contractually Limited Term Appointment (CLTA) at the rank of Assistant Professor in Economics and/or Applied Economics.
The successful candidate will contribute to teaching and research in a dynamic, interdisciplinary professional school environment and will teach economics courses in the School’s professional graduate programs, including the Master of Global Affairs (MGA) and Master of Public Policy (MPP).
Candidates must:
Hold a Ph.D. in Economics
Demonstrate excellence in research and teaching
Have teaching experience in a degree-granting program, including:
Lecture preparation and delivery
Curriculum development
Development of course materials
Show a strong commitment to:
Innovative and independent research
Teaching-related scholarly activities
Interdisciplinary and professional education environments
Evidence of research excellence may include:
Publications in top-ranked academic journals or presses
High-quality working papers or forthcoming publications
A strong research statement outlining current and future work
Presentations at major conferences
Research awards and external recognition
Strong letters of reference from respected scholars
The successful candidate is expected to establish an externally funded, competitive research program.
Evidence of teaching excellence will be demonstrated through:
Teaching accomplishments and experience
A teaching dossier, including:
Teaching statement
Sample course materials
Teaching evaluations (where available)
Strong endorsements of teaching in reference letters
Additional teaching-related activities may include student mentorship, workshop leadership, or outstanding conference presentations.
CAD $110,000 – $140,000 per annum, commensurate with experience.
Negotiations beyond this range may be considered for exceptionally qualified candidates.
