The University and Employment Preparation Department, in the Faculty of Education and Social Work, invites applications for the position of Tenure Track Bipartite Assistant Teaching Professor.
University preparation provides an opportunity for students to obtain pre-university prerequisites for many programs at TRU and elsewhere and/or obtain an Adult Graduation Diploma. The successful candidate will teach Adult Basic Education (ABE) physics courses and provide service to the institution.
The successful candidate will:
Implement sound teaching methods aligned with clear learning objectives in lectures and labs
Engage in scholarly teaching
Create quality, inclusive, and safe learning environments
Maintain proper academic records
Ensure courses are articulated with the BC ABE Science Articulation Committee
Contribute to a positive workplace culture
Engage in service to the department, faculty, TRU, and the wider community
Required:
Master’s degree in a relevant field
At least one degree in science (with a minor or major in physics) or a closely related discipline
Teaching Certificate or Instructor’s Diploma or 5 years teaching experience in ABE
Demonstrated evidence of scholarly teaching
Experience teaching in a laboratory setting
Experience teaching students from diverse educational, social, and economic backgrounds
Preferred:
Skills in building intercultural understanding, empathy, and mutual respect (TRC CA 63)
Experience integrating Indigenous knowledge and teaching methods (TRC CA 62)
Experience developing culturally appropriate curricula (TRC CA 10)
Pay Band: $73,665.93 – $114,124.39(According to TRUFA Salary Schedule, Range TS01 – TS12)
