The Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences at Florida Tech is seeking applications for one tenure-track faculty position beginning August 2024. Preference is for the Assistant Professor level, but other levels will be considered. Required qualifications for the positions include an earned Ph.D. in electrical engineering.  Successful candidates are expected to perform undergraduate and graduate teaching, pursue an active research program, and advise undergraduate and graduate students. Moreover,  candidates should have an established record of outstanding-quality research publications and a commitment for excellence in teaching.  Strong oral and written communication skills are also required.  While all candidates will be considered, this year’s searches are particularly focused on the intersection of artificial intelligence/machine learning and the following areas:

 

  • Communications: Advanced communication systems, wireless and optical communications, communication theory, signal processing for communications, 5G and beyond, and MIMO systems.

 

  • Very-Large-Scale Integration (VLSI): Advanced VLSI design, low-power circuits, digital and analog integrated circuits, emerging technologies for VLSI, system-on-chip design, and VLSI for signal processing and communications.

 

  • Power Electronics and Systems: Design and control of power converters, high-frequency power conversion, energy harvesting, renewable energy systems, motor drives, and advanced power distribution networks.

 

  • Electromagnetic Fields and Applications: Antenna design, microwave engineering, electromagnetic wave propagation, and applications of electromagnetic fields in modern devices and systems.

 

The department has ABET accredited programs in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, and Software Engineering, and receives significant active research funding from a number of government agencies and industry partners.  Florida Tech is located in Melbourne on Florida’s Space Coast, one of the nation’s fastest growing high-tech areas. A number of major corporations have a local presence, including General Electric, L3Harris, Northrop Grumman, and Raytheon. The campus is 5 minutes from the Indian River estuary, only 10 minutes from the Atlantic Ocean and 50 minutes from both Kennedy Space Center and Orlando.
