Position Overview

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at PNW invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor specializing in Control Systems and Automation, with additional expertise in robotics, cyber-physical systems, or AI-enabled control.

Faculty will contribute to the Intelligent and Autonomous Systems research cluster, a strategic initiative linking faculty across disciplines with regional industry and community partners.

Campus Locations:

  • Hammond: 30 miles from Chicago

  • Westville: 15 miles from Indiana Dunes National Park


Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate ECE courses with student-centered pedagogy

  • Mentor students in academic planning, senior design, undergraduate research, and career preparation

  • Develop new or enhance existing courses and lab experiences

  • Establish a research program in Intelligent and Autonomous Systems

  • Pursue external funding from grants, industry, or government

  • Publish research in peer-reviewed journals and conferences

  • Engage in interdisciplinary collaborations and applied research

  • Contribute to departmental service, outreach, and community engagement, including STEM initiatives


Qualifications

Education:

  • Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field (required by August 3, 2026)

Experience & Skills:

  • Strong potential for teaching excellence and impactful research

  • Expertise in control systems and automation

  • Ability to mentor students and develop courses/labs

  • Potential to secure external research funding
