The School of Histories and Humanities at Trinity College Dublin seeks to appoint a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Modern South American History. The post will be based in the Department of History.
The primary responsibilities include:
Teaching and research in any aspect of the history of South America from the early nineteenth century to the present
Contributing to the School’s M.Phil programmes in Environmental History and International History
Supervising postgraduate research in the candidate’s area of expertise
The successful applicant will be expected to establish a strong record of research and publication in modern South American history and to complement the Department’s existing strengths in environmental, socio-economic, cultural, or political history.
Status: 5-Year Tenure Track
Hours: As prescribed under Public Service Agreements (link)
Salary: Assistant Professor scale (€42,925–€102,556 per annum), aligned with current Government pay policy (link)
Applicants must hold a PhD in History or a related field. Preference will be given to candidates whose research and teaching expertise:
Complements the Department’s existing strengths
Demonstrates potential for high-quality research outputs and publications
Can contribute to graduate and undergraduate teaching in modern South American history
