The Department of Medicine (DoM), Temerty Faculty of Medicine, at the University of Toronto is seeking two applicants for the role of Faculty Lead – Early Career. This is a two-year term, non-renewable.
An overarching priority of the DoM is to ensure an inclusive culture where its members feel a sense of belonging and where there is recognition and support for their well-being, and where all members feel supported to achieve fulfillment and excellence across all stages of their career. Aligned with this goal, we are seeking the next individuals to serve as our Faculty Leads – Early Career, working closely with the Chair and other departmental leaders to ensure the perspectives of early career faculty are top of mind in departmental decision making.
The Faculty Leads – Early Career will be full-time clinical faculty members within five years of recruitment to the DoM and serve as members of the DoM’s Executive Committee, which meets monthly (first Tuesday from 8-9:30 am). The incumbents will work to sustain and enhance a community of practice for early career faculty. In partnership with key stakeholders and based on the identified needs of DoM members, the Faculty Leads - Early Career will assist in development and implementation of evidence-based strategies to support faculty development, wellness, and career satisfaction. For example, they may be invited to contribute to specific initiatives within the Culture & Inclusion portfolio.
The ideal candidates are individuals with a track record of taking a proactive approach to identifying opportunities and initiatives for engagement. They will be effective communicators, personable and approachable, with an interest in fostering collaboration and building networks. The Faculty Leads - Early Career will each receive a stipend of $15,000 per annum to recognize their efforts. Effective start date is November 1, 2023.
