The Faculty of Music invites applications for a tenure-stream Assistant Professor in the areas of Composition and Music Technology. The successful candidate will pursue innovative research and creative professional practice while teaching and supervising undergraduate and graduate students in music composition and music technology.
Key Focus Areas:
Composition integrating current and next-generation digital media
Music technology, electronic music, digital media, and innovative tools for music creation
Research-creation and practice-based scholarship
Collaboration with artists, ensembles, festivals, or arts organizations
Conduct independent, high-level research and creative activities in music composition and music technology
Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in:
Composition
Music Technology and Digital Media
Graduate seminars
Individual composition lessons
Supervise graduate theses (MMus/DMA) and major projects
Contribute to departmental and faculty service as required
Doctoral degree in composition, music technology, or a closely related area (completed by start of appointment or shortly thereafter)
Demonstrated excellence in research and/or creative professional practice, including:
Digital media composition
Software or instrument development
Collaborations or productions
Publications, performances, and/or exhibitions
Evidence of teaching excellence, including teaching statement, sample syllabi, teaching evaluations, or other indicators
Strong portfolio of recent work with audiovisual documentation and clear descriptions of personal contributions
