Assistant Professor of Pathology

Position Overview

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine seeks candidates for several Assistant Professor positions in the non-tenure clinician educator track. Expertise is required in surgical pathology, with a particular interest in thoracic pathology.

Required Qualifications:

• M.D., D.O., or equivalent degree

• Board certification or eligibility in American Board of Pathology, AP-only or AP/CP

Responsibilities

Teaching:

• Educate medical students, residents, and fellows in pathology and related disciplines

Clinical:

• Participate in the Surgical Pathology service with coverage of thoracic pathology services at Penn Medicine, including:

  • Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania

  • Penn Presbyterian Hospital

  • Pennsylvania Hospital and its affiliates

• Coverage may include:

  • General frozen section service

  • Autopsy service

  • Night/weekend call

• Additional subspecialty coverage beyond thoracic pathology will be considered

• Primary practice site: Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania

Research/Scholarship:

• Develop an independent or collaborative research program in anatomic pathology, particularly thoracic pathology

• May serve as PI, Co-PI, or Co-I
