Description

The Department of Philosophy at University of Toronto invites applications for a one-year full-time contractually limited term appointment (CLTA) in Logic.

The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream, with an anticipated start date of August 1, 2026, and an end date of July 31, 2027.


Qualifications

Applicants must have:

  • A PhD degree in Philosophy or a related area by the time of appointment, or shortly thereafter
  • A demonstrated record of excellence in teaching

The Department seeks candidates who are able to:

  • Teach introductory classes in logic
  • Complement and enhance existing departmental strengths through their teaching interests

Candidates must have teaching experience in a degree-granting program, including:

  • Lecture preparation and delivery
  • Curriculum development
  • Development of online material and lectures

Additionally, candidates must demonstrate:

  • Commitment to excellent pedagogical inquiry
  • Interest in teaching-related scholarly activities

Evidence of Teaching Excellence

Evidence of excellence in teaching and commitment to pedagogical inquiry may be demonstrated through:

  • Teaching accomplishments
  • Awards and accolades
  • Presentations at significant conferences
  • Teaching dossier materials
  • Strong letters of reference

Application materials should also demonstrate:

  • Excellent expository skills
  • Organizational skills
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Expertise in a relevant area of Philosophy

Salary

The salary range is $110,000 to $135,000 CAD per annum, depending on experience.

Negotiations beyond this salary range will be considered for exceptionally qualified candidates.
