The Department of Food and Resource Economics, Faculty of Science, University of Copenhagen invites applications for a position as assistant professor within the field of Resource Economics. The position will have a main emphasis on the economics and regulation of natural resource use, with emphasis on renewable resources and the environment.

We are looking for applicants with documented research experience within one or more of the following topics, or topics related to these:

  • The optimal use and regulation of  renewable resources like fish stocks, forests, wildlife and/or other renewable resources
  • The economics of sustainability, the circular economy and similar concepts
  • Regulation design for natural resource use under market imperfections
  • The economics and regulation of climate change mitigation, biodiversity conservation and similar global challenges
  • The optimal use and regulation of non-renewable resources, e.g. minerals and fossil energy sources

The assistant professor’s duties will include theoretical and empirical research within the above-mentioned broader fields, including contributions to collaborative and interdisciplinary work, and will include research-based teaching with associated examination and administrative tasks, public sector advisory services, and contribution to funding proposals

Applicants must have a PhD degree in the above-mentioned field or equivalent, must have experience conducting independent research within one or more of the above topics, have solid theoretical and thematic knowledge and have experience with publishing in international peer-reviewed journals. Teaching experience and experience in securing third-party funding will also be an advantage.

The position is open from 1 December 2020 or as soon as possible thereafter. The position is time limited for a 4-year period

Terms of employment

The position is covered by the Memorandum on Job Structure for Academic Staff.

Terms of appointment and payment accord to the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and The Danish Confederation of Professional Associations on Academics in the State.

The starting salary is currently up to DKK 434.179 including annual supplement (+ pension up to DKK 74.244). Negotiation for salary supplement is possible.
