The Department of Sociology invites applications for an Assistant Professor in Digital Sociology. Further areas of specialization within digital sociology are open, although we have a preference for candidates with expertise in one or more of the following areas: digital labour, platform economies, platform studies, surveillance and security, gender and technology, computational bias and inequality, digital change in the Global South, critical data studies, and digital methods that span quantitative and qualitative techniques.

The Department is particularly interested in candidates who can contribute to the development of one or more of our core research clusters: Science and Technology, Theory and Culture, and Politics and Inequality.

We are looking for someone with a strong background in Digital Sociology, who can demonstrate both breadth and depth of experience. The ideal candidate should have a proven upwards trajectory and an established or developing international reputation that would make them a world leader in the field. They will also demonstrate the ability to undertake postgraduate and undergraduate teaching and supervision. The candidate will demonstrate an ability to support the growth of the MPhil pathway in Media and Culture; contribute to examining, assessment and admissions; and contribute fully to academic administration within the Department and potentially a College.
