Louisiana Tech University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Sociology. The successful candidate will have evidence of successful teaching and scholarship in criminology or a closely related field to support the sociology undergraduate program and the forensic psychology certificate.
Specialization in digital criminology (e.g., social media crime, cybercrime, online victimization, online communities) is a plus.
Faculty responsibilities include teaching existing elective criminology courses (e.g., Juvenile Delinquency, Sociology of Deviance, Introduction to Criminal Justice), Research Methods, and Introduction to Sociology. Opportunities exist to contribute to a new interdisciplinary Media Studies graduate program.
Teaching load: Three courses per quarter
Expectations: Strong commitment to undergraduate teaching, active scholarship/research, and collegial collaboration
Required: Ph.D. in Sociology or Criminology by September 1, 2026
Evidence of successful teaching and scholarship in criminology or closely related fields
Commitment to interdisciplinary teaching and research
Excellent interpersonal and collegial skills
