Assistant Professor of Urban and Landscape Design with Specific Focus on Sea Level Rise

The assistant professorship is based on a 4 year research project on urban development in the light of sea level rise. While sea levels are rising, coastal protection in Denmark is mainly focused on hard and technological solutions.  The research project will investigate and evaluate alternative, landscape based solutions. The research of the assistant professor will be integrated partner the research project. He or she will work in collaboration with senior staff with specific focus on international and Danish case studies of urban development strategies and landscape based solutions to coastal protection in an urban context. Some cooperation with Danish coastal towns and cities is expected.

The assistant professor’s duties will primarily include research, including obligations with regard to publication/scientific communication, and research-based teaching with associated examination obligations within urban and landscape design. To a limited extent this may also include performance of other duties.

Assessment criteria

Mandatory:

  • Completed PhD or equivalent in a field relevant to the position (landscape and urban design and planning)

Will be considered:

  • Knowledge and experience with research into climate change adaptation
  • Experience in case study research
  • Experience in international research collaboration
  • Experience in teaching design studios
  • Fluency in English and in Danish or a Nordic language (collaboration with Danish practice is foreseen)
  • Experience from planning and urban design practise

Terms of employment

The position is covered by the Memorandum on Job Structure for Academic Staff.

Terms of appointment and payment accord to the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and The Danish Confederation of Professional Associations on Academics in the State.

The starting salary is currently up to DKK 437.843 including annual supplement (+ pension up to DKK 74.871). Negotiation for salary supplement is possible.
