Assistant Professor (Tenure Track) in Educational Leadership

The Department of Teaching, Learning and Leadership is seeking candidates for a full time, nine month, tenure track Assistant Professor position in the Educational Leadership area who will deliver core K – 12 leadership courses starting August of 2019.


SDSU is especially interested in candidates that can contribute to and/or coordinate course offerings that address the experiences of underrepresented minorities in organizations. Women, minorities, veterans, and people with disabilities are especially encouraged to apply.

 Have an active and defined research program with potential for publication. 
 Teach high quality graduate courses in various formats.
 Seek extramural funding for research interests.
 Advise and serve on graduate student committees.
 Provide service on departmental, college, and university committees and to the community.
 Help prepare graduate students to be practitioners in the field. 

 Doctorate in the area of Educational Leadership, Educational Administration or related discipline by August 2019.
 Demonstrated research skills and potential for developing a productive research program.
 Demonstrated strong potential for publication and external funding of research interests. 
 Demonstrated experience in a K – 12 school system. 
 Demonstrated effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
 Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively.
 Commitment to equality and diversity.


 Demonstrated research contributions or strong potential for publishing in the areas of educational leadership and policy; teacher professional development; use of innovative methods; developing K-12, university and community partnerships; and leading change in rural education. 
 Demonstrated experience or strong interest in working with diverse groups.
 Demonstrated ability and interest in teaching classroom/online/hybrid courses.
 Interest in providing program coordination for the graduate program.
