Position description

The Department of Psychology is currently hiring for an Assistant Project Scientist. Criteria:
Candidate must have a PhD in neuroscience or a related area. Job responsibilities include supporting the PI in the design and execution of extramurally funded projects in mice examining fear and anxiety behaviors. The candidate should have a strong background in rodent systems neuroscience with a particular focus upon calcium imaging and optogenetic approaches applied to the study of fear and defensive behaviors in rodents.

Responsibilities include assisting the PI in study design, regulatory aspects of research, day-to-day tasks related to project management, data analysis, manuscript preparation and submission, and graduate and undergraduate student supervision.

The appointment will be for 100% starting April 1, 2023, and may conclude after 2 years depending on funding.

The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See Table 37B. The salary range for this position is $68000-$87000. “Off-scale salaries”, i.e. a salary that is higher than the published system-wide salary at the designated rank and step, are offered when necessary to meet competitive conditions. The annual salary rate will increase by 4.5% on July 1, 2023.
