Position description


The UCLA Neurosurgery Department invites applications for a position of Assistant Researcher whose research will focused on the investigation of imaging-based biomarkers of therapeutic outcomes and patient-specific targeting of neuromodulatory interventions. The research involves:

  1. Using advanced imaging tools to characterize the underlying mechanisms in brain networks for patients with chronic pain, depression and Parkinson, mechanisms of therapeutic action and potential imaging biomarkers to guide therapy.
  2. The application of novel connectivity-guided deep brain stimulation targeting methods for direct targeting for patients with treatment-resistant depression and chronic pain. This involves innovative analysis approaches to study the structural connectivity between the areas that are involved to each pathology.

The Assistant Researcher will be expected to seek funding through competed solicitations, publish peer-reviewed journal articles, broadly communicate the results of your research, and mentor junior researchers, postdoctoral fellows and/or students.


Starting Date: July 1, 2021

Candidates must have the following qualification:

  1. Minimum of five years’ experience in medical research in academic setting or equivalent.
  2. Postdoc training in neurosurgery department.
  3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
