The School of Nursing, Faculty of Health, York University invites highly qualified candidates to apply for a teaching stream tenure-track position in Maternal Newborn Health at the rank of Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream or Associate Professor, Teaching Stream to commence July 1, 2023. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. All York University positions are subject to budgetary approval.

Candidates must be registered in good standing or eligible for registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario and hold a Masters degree in a relevant area (Masters in Nursing preferred). In addition, a PhD in Nursing or a related field by the start of the appointment is preferred. The successful candidate will have expertise in reproductive health and the care of birthing people that includes high-risk pregnancy, fetal development, labour and delivery and postpartum/perinatal nursing, newborn health and health care. The candidate should have experience in theoretical and evidence-based/informed care of pregnant persons, perinatal/postpartum and newborn nursing practice, and be committed to family-centred care.

The successful candidate will demonstrate excellence (or clear potential for excellence for an appointment at the Assistant Professor level), in teaching university-level courses through: the teaching statement; teaching accomplishments and pedagogical innovations including in high priority areas such as experiential education, technology enhanced learning and community-based learning; teaching evaluations; and strong letters of reference. The successful candidate will also demonstrate: 1) a strong commitment to pedagogy and student success, 2) the capacity to bring a theoretical and practical orientation to teaching, learning and program design in relation to reproductive health, pregnancy, intrapartum, postpartum and newborn health/nursing, and 3) a reflective approach to innovation in teaching. Experience with curriculum development and universal design approaches to teaching and assessment is preferred.

The successful candidate is also expected to provide evidence of service contributions or potential to contribute to service in administrative and committee work.
