The Yale Child Study Center Outpatient Clinical Services seeks applications for a psychology faculty position dedicated to providing mental health supports and services to children, teens, and families. The successful applicant will join an innovative clinical service at the Childhood Violent Trauma Clinic (CVTC) at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor of Child Clinical Psychology.  The Yale Childhood Violent Trauma Center is the Trauma Section of the Yale Child Study Center. The Yale Child Study Center is renowned for its research, clinical services, training programs, policy work, and local, state, national, and international collaboration conducted by its faculty.  For more than two decades, faculty of the Childhood Violent Trauma Center have combined direct clinical experience with advances in scientific and practical knowledge and translated this into the development of groundbreaking interventions for traumatized children and families.

The multi-disciplinary CVTC team provides trauma-informed treatments and services to children and families, builds professional knowledge through clinical research, and advances the field of child trauma treatment through collaboration, training and dissemination.  The position responsibilities include seeing patients through our outpatient services, providing clinical supervision for TF-CBT, participating in research initiatives examining the efficacy of trauma interventions, serving as a consultant to groups of clinicians outside CSC who are training in trauma interventions, and presenting on childhood trauma and providing consultation to local groups with children and families.


  • Doctorate in Psychology
  • License-eligible in the State of Connecticut
  • Training in psychodynamic approaches to assessment and treatment of children and adults
  • Expertise in providing therapeutic interventions to children and families who have experienced a potentially traumatic event
  • Experience providing acute trauma focused mental health services
  • Training and experience in implementing/providing Child and Family Traumatic Stress Intervention (CFTSI) and Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT)
  • Demonstrated experience in evidence-based treatments including CFTSI and TF-CBT
  • Demonstrated experience working with community partners, including New Haven Department of Police Service, as well as with CT Department of Children and Families, Yale New Haven Hospital Pediatric Emergency Department, and other outside mental providers.
