The University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine invites applicants for the position of Assistant/Associate Professor of Clinical Family Medicine in the Department of Family Medicine. 


The position is for full-time or part-time, non-tenure track clinical physician faculty. Responsibilities may encompass full range outpatient, inpatient and obstetric services, all may not be required. Teaching medical students will be an essential part of outpatient practice. We seek energetic, forward thinking, team-oriented family physicians who are willing to engage in the transformation of our practice to an outstanding medical home model, using principles of continuous quality improvement. This position will start as primarily clinical, with an initial expectation of approximately 80% of effort devoted to patient care. Practice locations include the University Village Family Medicine clinic, Pilsen Family Medicine clinic and the University of Illinois Hospital.

The expanding Department of Family Medicine currently has over 30 academic and clinical faculty members. The Department and faculty have a strong mission to provide excellent clinical care, education and research that meets the primary care needs of a diverse urban population, serving over 100,000 patients annually. We are committed to providing care to many underserved communities, including patients with HIV, transgender care and full spectrum family planning. The Department partners with Mile Square Health Center, a federally qualified health center that serves an inner city population at 5 sites. The Department runs the UIC student health service, serving over 30,000 students. The faculty and residents provide broad spectrum care in the academic medical center, including maternity care and two Family Medicine inpatient services, admitting all ages. The department supports a broad range of clinical interests among its faculty and is committed to supporting and mentoring its members.

We have a top-rated Family Medicine clerkship that trains 190 medical students each year and an outstanding Family Medicine Residency with 24 residents. We have a longstanding history of developing educational innovations aimed at preparing the heath workforce to meet the needs of our diverse patient populations. We are co-leading one of 44 national Geriatrics Workforce Enhancement Programs (GWEPs) funded by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). The department includes the Midwest AIDS Training and Education Center (MATEC), also funded by HRSA.


The position comes with a comprehensive benefits package and clinical incentive plan. Successful candidate should be an MD/DO, who is board-certified in Family Medicine and eligible for licensure in the State of IL, who desires to practice in an academic medical center. Experience in women's health, and adolescent health, as well as fluency in speaking Spanish language is preferred.
