School Overview:

Founded in 1966 as Rutgers Medical School, Robert Wood Johnson Medical School is located on the New Brunswick/Piscataway campus of Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. As one of the nation’s leading comprehensive medical schools, Robert Wood Johnson Medical School is dedicated to the pursuit of excellence in education, research, health care delivery, and the promotion of community health. In cooperation with Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, the medical school’s principal affiliate, they comprise New Jersey’s premier academic medical center. In addition, Robert Wood Johnson Medical School has 34 other hospital affiliates and ambulatory care sites throughout the region.

Robert Wood Johnson Medical School encompasses 20 basic science and clinical departments, and hosts centers and institutes including The Cardiovascular Institute, the Child Health Institute of New Jersey, the Institute for Neurological Therapeutics, and the Women’s Health Institute. The medical school maintains educational programs at the undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate levels for more than 1,500 students on its campuses in New Brunswick and Piscataway, and provides continuing education courses for healthcare professionals and community education programs.

We seek an outstanding candidate with a degree in Neuroscience, Anatomy, or related field who demonstrates excellence and productivity related to medical or health-sciences education. A Ph.D. or M.D. is required and experience teaching in Neuroanatomy and Gross Anatomy is highly preferred. This appointment will be made at an academic rank commensurate with experience. Reviews of incoming applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. COVID-19 Immunization Requirement
Under Policy 60.1.35, Rutgers University requires all prospective employees to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated and have received a booster (where eligible) against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption. Prospective employees who are not eligible for a booster at the time of an offer of employment must provide proof they have received a booster within two weeks (14 calendar days) of eligibility. Based on current guidance, individuals are considered fully vaccinated against COVID-19 two weeks after receiving the final dose of any COVID-19 vaccine authorized or approved for use in the United States by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and recommended by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Eligibility for a booster against COVID-19 varies and is explained on the University’s web site located at https://coronavirus.rutgers.edu/covid-19-vaccine. Failure to provide proof of primary vaccination and booster will result in rescission of a prospective employee’s offer of employment and/or disciplinary action up to and including termination.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
We seek an outstanding candidate with a degree in Neurobiology or related field and demonstrated excellence and productivity related to teaching. Experience teaching in Neuroanatomy and Gross Anatomy is highly preferred, but a willingness to learn and teach in Gross Anatomy, Neuroanatomy and Histology is required. Candidates must have a Doctoral degree (e.g., MD, PhD) from an accredited institution.
