Position Description
The Department of Microbiology at Harvard Medical School ( invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, in accord with career experience. We seek candidates performing creative basic research on viruses, host-virus interactions, or the immune response to viral pathogens to join our Microbiology department.

The position offers outstanding scholarly and scientific resources in a collegial and collaborative environment. There are exceptionally strong ties to related departments throughout Harvard University, the Harvard affiliated teaching hospitals, and the greater Boston biomedical research community. The position provides the opportunity to join a vibrant community of microbiologists at Harvard University interested in molecular and quantitative approaches to fundamental microbiology, and the development of countermeasures against viral and bacterial infections, including antimicrobials and vaccines.

We consider it a core mission to educate and facilitate the training of the next generation of microbiologists with diverse backgrounds and interests. The successful candidate will become a member of the Biological and Biomedical Sciences Program and the Program in Virology; both are campus-wide PhD degree programs. Members are afforded the opportunity to teach exceptional graduate and medical students interested in microbiology and medical sciences.

Basic Qualifications
Candidates must have a Ph.D., M.D., M.D./Ph.D., or an equivalent doctoral degree.
