Description
The University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine welcomes applications for a full time, Veterinary Clinical Pathologist in the Pathobiology Department at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in the Academic Clinician track. The search committee will begin considering applications immediately with a proposed start date of the position as early as October 2nd, 2023. Rank and salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Interpret cytology and hematology specimens with timely preparation of pathology reports.
- Active involvement in the diagnostic work-up of cases from a clinical pathology perspective.
- Assist in training and teaching of both veterinary students and house officers.
- Assist in training and teaching of clinical pathology residents.
- Provide training and technical guidance to laboratory personnel in proper specimen processing and assessment techniques.
- Participate in quality assurance and quality control programs.
- Assist with development of laboratory methods and procedures.
- Promote departmental camaraderie and develop diagnostic skills through regular participation in hospital and departmental rounds and continuing education.
- There is no individual research requirement for this position, however, individual research projects can be pursued. In addition, our section often provides support for research studies requiring clinical pathology expertise.
