Position description

The University of California, Berkeley invites applications for approved tenure and tenure-track positions in Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences at the Assistant Professor and Associate/ Full Professor levels. Rank will be determined based on qualifications and experience. Joint appointments with department-affiliated institutes and initiatives, or other UC Berkeley departments, will also be considered.

With priority given to overall originality and promise versus sub-area of specialization, preference will be given to applicants interested in creating innovative and far-reaching solutions to important problems in electrical engineering and/or computer science, as well as to applicants whose research, teaching or service has prepared them to contribute to our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in higher education. Qualifications

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

Ph.D. (or equivalent international degree), or enrolled in a Ph.D. or equivalent international degree-granting program at the time of application.

Assistant Professor

Position title: Assistant Professor

Individuals should submit their application at this level if they meet one of the following conditions: Current or recent PhD candidate or graduate; current or recent postdoc; current assistant professor (including those who are “senior” assistant professors near tenure).   • Statement of Research - The statement of research should include a summary of your major research accomplishments (approximately 250 words); and a summary of your ongoing and planned research program (approximately 1,500 words with intermixed figures), which should begin with a title for your research program and should include a list of essential publication citations.

  • Statement of Teaching - The statement of teaching should include a statement of your teaching interests as well as any prior teaching and mentoring experience (approximately 500 words). You might include a list of UC Berkeley courses you would feel comfortable teaching.

  • Statement on Contributions to Advancing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion - Statement on your contributions to diversity, equity, and inclusion, including information about your understanding of these topics, your record of activities to date, and your specific plans and goals for advancing equity and inclusion if hired at Berkeley (for additional information go to https://ofew.berkeley.edu/recruitment/contributions-diversity).

  • Significant Publication 1 - For each of the three significant publications, provide a statement that begins with the manuscript title and author list and then summarizes, in approximately 300 words, the significance of the selected publication.
