Salary Range: $200,000 - $300,000, negotiated annually. Additional compensation may be available if the position includes membership in the Health Sciences Compensation Plan.

Position Description
The Department of Pediatrics at UC San Diego in the Division of Nephrology and Rady Children’s Hospital-San Diego is seeking a Division Chief of Pediatric Nephrology.
Faculty in the Division are engaged in basic science, clinical, and translational research, as well as quality improvement initiatives. The Division’s research is funded by the NIH, charitable foundations, and the pharmaceutical industry. Faculty participate in national collaborations including NAPRTCS, CKiD, SCOPE, and PRNC. The Division has a long-standing ACGME-accredited pediatric nephrology fellowship program and currently has two fellows.
The Comprehensive Kidney Care Center at RCHSD includes general nephrology, transplant, and dialysis clinics and a five-station pediatric dialysis unit. The Division provides consultative services at the UCSD NICU, Sharp Mary Birch, Kaiser-Permanente, and Rady satellite clinics. The Division has consistently ranked in the top 30 nationally and most recently ranked 13th.
The Division Chief will report to the Department Chair of Pediatrics and lead the division’s strategic, clinical, academic, operational, and financial goals. They will provide leadership, quality oversight, define scope of practice, strengthen relationships across divisions, and contribute to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
The appointment will be at the Associate or Full Professor level and may include 50% Ladder Rank / 50% In-Residence with secured extramural funding or 100% Ladder Rank.
Qualifications
Basic:
MD or equivalent, or MD/PhD in Pediatrics.
Eligible for California medical license or equivalent certification.
Board-certified or board-eligible in Pediatric Nephrology.
Preferred:
High-quality publication record.
Excellent trainee outcomes.
Sustained competitive extramural funding.
