The Department of Psychiatry, Temerty Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto, and the Department of Psychiatry at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) invite applications for a Geriatric Psychiatrist to provide consultation and ongoing care to older adults (aged 50+).
The successful candidate must be eligible for a full-time clinical academic appointment at the rank of Lecturer, Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor at the University of Toronto.
Expected start date: January 1, 2026.
The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) is Canada’s largest mental health teaching hospital and one of the world’s leading research centres in its field. As a fully affiliated teaching hospital of the University of Toronto, CAMH integrates clinical care, teaching, and research across a broad spectrum of mental health and addiction services.
The Division of Geriatric Psychiatry has a strong research portfolio and collaborates extensively with hospitals and academic institutions across Canada and internationally.
Provide psychiatric consultation and follow-up for outpatients and inpatients.
Supervise and teach medical students, psychiatry residents, and geriatric psychiatry residents.
Participate in research and academic activities.
Engage in outreach to transitional care, long-term care, and community settings as required.
Offer consultation-liaison services for geriatric inpatients in psychiatry and medical units.
Expertise in dementia care, behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia, serious and complex mental health disorders (e.g., schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, substance use disorders), and common psychiatric conditions (e.g., depression, anxiety) is preferred.
Duties may also include coverage for the general adult population during on-call periods.
MD degree and eligibility for medical licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO).
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry and Geriatric Psychiatry (Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada).
Demonstrated excellence in clinical care, teaching, and research.
Proven experience in caring for older adults with mental health conditions and supporting their families and caregivers.
Remuneration is consistent with the compensation structure for psychiatrists in Ontario, estimated between $300,000 and $350,000 per annum, commensurate with rank, qualifications, and experience.
