An unwavering commitment to outstanding education and research has defined the University of British Columbia's Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences for over 70 years. It is now home to 85 faculty members, over 700 clinical faculty, over 1000 undergraduate students, and close to 100 graduate students. The Faculty has an enviable reputation for its academic programs, including an accredited Entry-to-Practice PharmD degree, a Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Sciences degree that is unique in Canada, a newly launched Graduate Diploma in Pharmacy Leadership, and the Canadian Pharmacy Practice Program for international pharmacy graduates.

 

We now invite applications for a tenured position at any of the following ranks: Associate Professor, Associate Professor of Teaching, Professor, or Professor of Teaching. Reporting to the Dean, the Associate Dean will be expected to sustain the quality of the existing pharmacy and pharmaceutical sciences programs and to stimulate educational innovation and strategic program expansion. The Associate Dean is also a member of the Faculty’s Senior Management Team and as such contributes to the overall leadership and strategic direction of the Faculty.

 

The successful candidate will ideally have an exemplary record of teaching, with leadership experience in curriculum design and implementation, and will be tenured or eligible to be appointed with tenure at UBC. The new Associate Dean will be forward-thinking and will bring demonstrated leadership experience and the capacity and collegial, collaborative approach to build on the momentum that the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences has achieved in recent years. A consensus-based and collaborative leadership style, ability to work with and lead a diverse group of faculty and staff, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential. The Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences is located in a quarter-million-square-foot, state-of-the-art learning and research facility in the heart of the UBC’s Vancouver campus. The expected salary range for this position is $190,000-$240,000 at the rank of Associate Professor or Associate Professor of Teaching and $210,000-$280,000 at the rank of Professor or Professor of Teaching. Salary is competitive, negotiable, and commensurate with experience, and is subject to final budgetary approval.
