The Department of Veterinary and Biomedical Sciences in the College of Agricultural Sciences and the Huck Institutes of the Life Sciences of The Pennsylvania State University are seeking to hire a new tenure-track Associate Professor in Bacterial Pathogenesis. The successful candidate will have expertise and experience in microbiology, host-pathogen interactions, and microbial population dynamics. A Ph.D. in a relevant discipline is required. The expectation is for a 75% research, 25% teaching assignment. This position features a competitive start-up package and outstanding research space. The faculty member will be expected to develop a strong, independent research program supported by extramural funding to provide novel discoveries relevant to important animal and/or human health concerns. The successful faculty member will actively participate in development of a high-profile pathogenesis research program. Responsibilities of the faculty member will include training graduate students and post-doctoral fellows and teaching an undergraduate course in bacterial pathogenesis and a graduate level course. The successful applicant will be become an effective member of the Huck Institutes of the Life Sciences ( Additional involvement may include engagement in appropriate interdisciplinary research and mentoring activities within and outside the College. The ability to work effectively with diverse students, faculty, and staff is required.
