  • Base salary range: Level C $132,381 – $152,279 p.a. (pro-rata) plus 17% superannuation, Level D $158,906 – $174,822 p.a. (pro-rata) plus 17% superannuation

About the team

The School of Population & Global Health (SPGH) at The University of Western Australia is a research-intensive academic organisation giving material expression of the belief that excellence in research underpins excellence in education and community partnerships. The School has a reputation for an evidence based approach to research and education that influences policy and practice development. SPGH aspires to be a school in which staff and students feel valued and supported in their individual and collective efforts to improve community health and wellbeing.

Health Economics is highly valued within SPGH as a core teaching area for the School’s undergraduate and postgraduate offerings and an important component of competitive health related research grant applications.

About the opportunity

This position undertakes high quality academic teaching utilising a range of delivery modes at undergraduate and postgraduate levels; independent research in health economics and related areas which makes a significant contribution at the national level; and relevant administrative duties. The appointee will be expected to contribute to the academic environment of the School of Population & Global Health.

To be considered for this opportunity, you will demonstrate:

  • PhD (or equivalent) in Health Economics or other relevant area
  • Demonstrated excellence in the development and delivery of curricula and the use of innovative online, face-to-face and hybrid teaching approaches, assessment and materials for units and courses
  • Demonstrated commitment to inclusive teaching practices to extend equality of opportunity for all learners
  • Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy or willingness to apply
  • A strong track record in excellence in research at a national or international level evidenced by a series of peer-reviewed journal articles published in high quality journals
  • A demonstrable track record of successful competitive funding applications
  • Demonstrated evidence of successful supervision of HDR students to timely completion
  • Demonstrated ability to develop strong partnerships with external stakeholders including government and industry, that promote research and/or education outcomes
  • Demonstrated ability to relate well to staff and students at all levels and evidence of a commitment to equity and diversity principles
  • Demonstrated ability to positively contribute to team, school and wider University activities such as team and school meetings, strategic planning and program development
