The Department of History in the Faculty of Arts and Science at the University of Toronto invites applications for a full-time tenure stream position in Ukrainian History.
The appointment will be at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor.
Anticipated start date: July 1, 2026.
The successful candidate will also be eligible to be named the John Yaremko Chair of Ukrainian History for a five-year term, renewable following a favourable review.
Applicants must have:
A PhD degree in History or a related area.
A clearly demonstrated record of excellence in research and teaching.
Research and teaching interests that complement and enhance existing departmental strengths.
An established international reputation.
Ability to sustain and lead innovative and independent research.
Capacity to maintain an outstanding, competitive, and externally funded research programme.
Note: Specialists of all eras and areas of Ukrainian history are encouraged to apply.
Candidates must provide evidence of research excellence through:
Sustained high-impact contributions and publications with top-ranked presses and in field-relevant journals.
Research statement submission.
Presentations at significant conferences.
Awards and accolades.
Other noteworthy activities that contribute to the visibility and prominence of the discipline.
Strong endorsements from referees.
Evidence of excellence in teaching includes:
Teaching accomplishments.

Strong letters of reference.
The rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
The upper end of the salary range exceeds $200,000 CAD per annum.
