Position Overview

The Department of History at the University of Toronto invites applications for a full-time tenure stream position in Soviet History at the rank of Associate Professor, with an anticipated start date of September 1, 2026.

Qualifications

  • PhD in History or a related area.
  • Established international reputation in Soviet Union and successor states’ history, specifically economic history.
  • Evidence of excellence in research: high-impact publications, presentations at significant conferences, awards, and strong referee endorsements.
  • Evidence of excellence in teaching: teaching dossier, sample course materials, teaching evaluations, and strong reference letters.
  • Ability to lead an innovative, independent, and externally funded research program.

Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience; upper end exceeds $200,000 CAD per annum.
